Democratic Dazzler

2010

A dazzler is a directed-energy non-lethal weapon employing intense light. Weapons designed to cause permanent blindness were banned in 1995 by the United Nations Protocol on Blinding Laser Weapons. So dazzlers are intended to cause temporary blindness or simply disorientation.
Democratic Dazzler is not targeting the human visual system but surveillance cameras and electronic sensors. It utilizes a powerful 850nm infrared flash and is thus invisible to the human eye.

But Democratic Dazzler is not simply destroying or blinding electronic sensors. It sends out a message in Morse code using flashes of light. Democratic Dazzler v. 2 transmits article 1 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Not only can you disrupt surveillance systems but you will be informing the surveilling authorities of your rights.

You can choose between six different languages when transmitting the message: English, German, Danish, Spanish, French or Russian.
